Web Design

Engineering Writing Center

Purpose

The goal for this project was to redesign the previous Engineering Writing Center web site to make accessing the content easier, create site-wide consistency, and increase overall usability.

Features

The audiences for this site are pre-engineering and engineering students that like to have fast access to information. I formatted the pages in chunks of information to assist scanability and reduce confusion. I hand-coded the site using HTML and cascading style sheets (CSS) to ensure clean HTML code that is simple to modify and update.

Purpose

This web site was created for TC 437 - Web Design and Web Publishing and focused on creating usable and effective online layouts.. The site is currently a high-fidelity design mockup for a user submitted, content driven, web site for users that are new to Linux. The idea behind the site is that users can submit Linux commands as they learn them, and others can commands that look interesting for later reference.

Features

This site was designed using Macromedia Dreamweaver with Cascading Style Sheets. Since the site was created for users that are new to Linux, I also created a page for them to learn about the Linux filesystem, which can be overwhelming. This page displays the filesystem as an interactive hierarchy with descriptions of the files that are storred in the folders so users can explore and learn. The site also features consistent navigation with lists of commands - organized by the program name and its features.
